September 15th is an important date in every Mexican's calendar. It commemorates Father Migielo Hidalgo y Costilla, who in 1810, in the town of Dolores, near Guanajuato, called Mexicans to fight for their country's independence against Spain by ringing bells.
The Mexican Embassy has been promoting and familiarizing Poles with Mexican history and culture for years. That's why last Sunday it hosted a ceremonial reception commemorating Mexican Independence Day.
The event began with the ceremonial raising of the Mexican flag and the playing of the Polish and Mexican anthems. Guests had the opportunity to sample dishes prepared with Casa de Mexico products. A Mariachi band also entertained guests with Mexican music.
